I am a 2013- 16 BSW batch student. Those days were full of opportunities that nurtured me to become myself. Our department was full of activities with spectra Samaritan and other college activities helped to identify and use many of my skills. In addition, I am really grateful to all the teachers of BSW we had. I can’t forget being an NSS volunteer and the various avenues it opened. Field placement was also really great experience as it helped me in my professional jobs. It was a great decision to join for BSW from Marian college, Kuttikanam.

My journey in Marian taught me to be resilient and my journey in the Social Work department taught me life. Social work is all about self-development and how that person is bringing that change within society. During the learning period at Marian, I found my purpose, which gave me the courage to move ahead with my dream. We are grateful for every experience, We are indebted to the wonderful faculties for their immense support. Any Marian Alumni would say they are blessed to be part of the Marian family.

Ms.Salee Ganesh (BSW 2014-17)

I entered Marian to be a social worker. The Social Work department was the best. My three years doing social work enriched my thirst to engage with people and gave me a deeper understanding of society. This was one of the major turns in my life. The course not only offered me a textual understanding but also helped me experience it. Marian offered various other opportunities for personal growth with different clubs within the department and college, and I could participate in many activities. I will always cherish my life in Marian, my teachers and my friends. I’m based in Melbourne, working as a Mental Health Practitioner and Founded a company for Disability Support

Marian College to me is my happy place! The School of Social Work was amazing both in the area of academics and student-teacher relationships. It was no less than a family to me. My achievements and my failures throughout my college life taught me to have a different perspective towards life. Again, the infinite memories I behold are probably the best I have and I just wish I could go back in time and relive them.

As an NRI student, my transition to college life in India was both exciting and overwhelming. However, the warm and welcoming atmosphere at Marian College made my adjustment much smoother. The faculty, staff, and fellow students were incredibly supportive and made sure that I never felt out of place. From day one, I was introduced to various student groups, extracurricular activities, and events that helped me engage with my peers and build friendships. Within a few months, Marian College felt like a second home, and I was able to focus on my studies while also enjoying my college life. One of the most significant aspects of the BSW program at Marian College was the emphasis on fieldwork experiences. These hands-on learning opportunities allowed me to step out of the classroom and apply my knowledge in real-world settings. The hostel provided a safe, comfortable and vibrant living environment where I met some of the most amazing people. The strong academic foundation, research skills, and practical experiences I gained at Marian College played a crucial role in my success during my postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom. Currently, I am working as a SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Teaching Assistant at Granta School, Cambridge in the UK.

My experience in this college was quite a handful. Along with my academics, my college provided me with immense support with my passion that is sports and made sure I had it till the end of the course. The Department ensured we received plenty of experience as well as knowledge, and provided the same amount of encouragement to excel in sports. The course made me more adaptable to the situations and it provided a variant number of fields under a single shed. I am currently in the UK studying MBA in Healthcare Management; the experience my college had provided has given me immense confidence in excelling in my course. The fieldwork my college has provided has made me understand the depth of my current course. Thereby Marian College has truly made a difference in my career and I am glad to say that it was a positive one.
