The School of Social Work at Marian College Kuttikkanam Autonomous was recognized as a Research Centre by Mahatma Gandhi University on 21 March 2009 (U.O. No. 1285/Ac. AVI/2009/Acad), marking a significant milestone in its academic journey. Since its establishment, the Centre has played a pivotal role in advancing research in Social Work and allied disciplines, fostering a culture of scholarly inquiry and intellectual growth. Over the years, it has successfully guided and produced five Ph.D. scholars contributing valuable insights and knowledge to the field. Upholding its dedication to academic excellence and rigorous research, the Research Centre successfully renewed its recognition on 16 April 2024 (U.O. No. 3387/AC A6/2024/M.G.U). This renewal reaffirms its commitment to fostering high-quality research and academic engagement, further strengthening its position as a hub for scholarly pursuits in Social Work and related disciplines.
Infrastructure & Facilities
- Dedicated Research Spaces– The Centre offers well-equipped research cubicles and workstations to provide a conducive environment for doctoral research.
- Library Resources– A well-stocked library with a vast collection of books, national and international journals, e-resources and dissertations related to Social Work and interdisciplinary studies. Access to databases like JSTOR, EBSCO and Shodhganga is available for extensive literature review and reference.
- Wi-Fi & Digital Access– High-speed internet and Wi-Fi connectivity across the research centre, ensuring seamless access to online academic resources, research databases and virtual collaboration platforms.
- Seminar & Conference Facilities– The Centre has a dedicated seminar hall equipped with audio-visual aids for research presentations, discussions and academic events.
- Research Methodology & Statistical Software-Availability of data analysis software such as SPSS, NVivo and other qualitative and quantitative research tools for researchers.
- Interdisciplinary Research Support– Collaboration opportunities with various Departments and research networks to encourage interdisciplinary studies.
- Ethics Review & Plagiarism Check– A well-defined Research Ethics Committee ensures adherence to ethical standards. Plagiarism detection software is available to maintain academic integrity.
- Scholar & Researcher Development Programs-Regular workshops, research colloquiums and faculty development programmes are conducted to enhance research skills and knowledge dissemination.
