BA Applied Economics Programme of Marian College is one of its kind where the students have the opportunity to skill themselves in a wide range of disciplines ranging from Communications, Sustainable Economic Development, Accounting, Financial Markets, and Mathematics to Computer Applications, Statistics, Econometrics, and Research. This is in addition to other core subjects in Economics. The programme is designed such that students from Humanities, Science, Commerce, or any other streams of study can undergo it successfully.
All teaching and learning activities of the BA Applied Economics Programme are student-centric. It encompasses strategies like experiential learning, collaborative learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving methodologies. Students are encouraged to study in groups, participate in workshops, present papers in seminars, conduct socio-economic surveys, write and publish articles, create videos, organize conferences, and manage events of various kinds as part of their learning activity.
Total marks obtained in the qualifying examination fewer handicap marks plus the marks obtained for optional concerns at the qualifying examination plus a subject weightage of 50 marks in the case of those who have taken the Economics Subject at the qualifying examination plus bonus marks if any.
Candidates must complete 10+2 examinations from any stream of study with a minimum of 60% marks at the higher secondary level.
The Department associates with United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) and has been instrumental in promoting environmental sustainability on campus.
