Master of Management Hospitality
Master of Management in Hospitality (MMH) – educating students who are keen to pursue a joyful career in Management in the service sector particularly Hospitality, Tourism, Travel, Airline, Entertainment, Events and other service industries. The department offers master-class business management education which recognises potential in the learners and mentors emotionally intelligent and passionate managers for the service industries.
Inaugurated in 2003 by the UGC chairman Prof YashPal, the Department offers the Govt- aided post graduate program – Master of Management in Hospitality (MMH) – educating students who are keen to pursue a joyful career in Management in the service sector particularly Hospitality, Tourism, Travel, Airline, Entertainment, Events and other service industries.
Candidates seeking admission to the MMH program through Credit and Semester System shall be required to have a minimum pass mark or equivalent grade in any undergraduate programme of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam or of any recognized University or authority accepted by the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam as equivalent thereto.
Students of the MMH department, have grabbed various prizes at Inter-Collegiate and University levels. The training provided in the college helps them to compete in the current environment with utmost confidence, and there has also been a 100% placement among all the passed out batches from this department
Master of Management in Hospitality (MMH), is a four semester program with its curriculum bringing together core management areas and key skills decided in consultation industry and academia experts. The highlight of the program is industry internships every semester, adding up to a total of 5 months by the end of the programme. Industry engagement is woven into the curriculum helping learners to come face-to-face with successful entrepreneurs, top executives and seasoned alumni.
Highly trained and abled faculty has always been the strength and pillar of the MMH department. The Faculty at Marian College actively engage in teaching, research and industrial consultancy. Having made significant research contributions to various fields, they tirelessly endeavour to assist students of the Institute in their various pursuits of excellence.
Philosophy of Teaching and Learning
The MMH programme envisages a student-centred learning and teaching approach, where the central focus is on learning. Instead of merely transferring knowledge, a teaching process that facilitates learning in an experiential way is emphasised. Self-directed and continuous learning skills are also stressed. It is expected that the students be empowered to use their autonomy as learners to gain and practise specific knowledge and skills.
